The first semester has officially wrapped up, and now it’s time for a holiday break. I’m savouring this downtime before the next busy semester of work and study begins. Balancing grooming appointments with school hasn’t been easy, but I made it work with some adjustments. I’m thankful to my friends and customers for accommodating my schedule and supporting me. Their encouragement and enthusiasm have been invaluable as I pursue my dreams.
I didn’t expect the first semester to go by so quickly. Term tests seemed to come out of nowhere when it felt like school had just started. At the start, I had a tough time adjusting and managing my schedule for the first term. After seeking advice from my wife and cousin, I created a timetable to organize my time effectively. I mapped out slots for work, household chores, self-study, and evening classes. Without this timetable, I likely would have struggled throughout the entire semester.
In the first term, I was somewhat disappointed with my command of English in an academic context. After my first Ecology test, I recognized that while I understood the material well, my written English wasn’t up to par. I vividly recall feeling let down when I realized that my phrasing didn’t meet my standards. Setting high expectations for myself brought a significant amount of disappointment. As the saying goes, the higher you climb, the harder you fall.
With the semester concluded and my test and assignment results pending, I’m taking some time to reflect on how I can enhance my performance for the next semester. I’m committed to giving my best and excelling in this course on my own terms. While the journey may be challenging, I am confident that I will come out stronger, and equipped with new knowledge and skills after graduation.
